What are the dangers to Children ?

Childnet believes that there are significant dangers for children in using the Internet unsupervised. These dangers can broadly be grouped into 3 main headings:

CONTACT

Children being contacted through chat rooms and e-mail by those who would seek to harm or lure them.

CONTENT

Children accessing inappropriate content including pornography, child pornography, racist/hate and violent material

COMMERCIALISM

Children's privacy violated through aggressive direct marketing and collection of market information. There is a real blur between much content and advertising aimed at children.
